Manager and teamBecause we maintain separate Asian and Japan teams, our Pan-Asian Product Group co-ordinates the management of this product. This split of responsibilities allows us to have investment managers who focus on their areas of expertise, while opening up the forum for discussion on which stocks to pick. The group meets weekly, although regular informal meetings take place regularly. This is aided by the fact that our Asia and Japan teams sit together in our Edinburgh headquarters.
John Millar, a director within our Japan team, is the lead manager for our Pan-Asia portfolios. John receives support from our Japan, Asia and Greater China teams.
Chris RuffleProduct manager, China and TaiwanFluent in Mandarin and Japanese, Chris has worked in the Far East since 1983. He initially worked in Beijing, Shanghai and Australia for Wogen Resources. He moved to Tokyo in 1987 to work as an analyst for Warburg Securities, and established their Taiwan office in 1990. Chris joined Martin Currie in 1994, moving to work in Taipei in 2000 and Shanghai from 2002. In 2006, Chris and Martin Currie established MC China Limited - a joint venture dedicated to running our range of specialist China strategies. He is the co-manager of the China Fund Inc.
